Skiing in Oregon (finally)
So, Mt. Hood is only 70 miles from our house, and last year we didn't make the time to go skiing. Well, today we kicked off 2008 in style by spending a great day at Mt. Hood Meadows. So, why is this such a big deal?
1) This is an outdoor activity that we can both do together!
2) Prior to today, Jenny had only been on skis twice in her life (both times in North Carolina)
3) Robert (as he often likes to reminisce) spent his much of his youth on skiis (when he wasn't tuning them himself) ... frequent night skiing in the Poconos at Shawnee, Ski Camp at Sugarloaf in Maine (2 times), trips to Summit County Colorado (Keystone, Breckenridge, Arapahoe Basin, Vail), and an alternate on his high school ski team (a distant alternate, but an alternate none-the-less). This during his "youth" ... translation ... he hadn't clipped into bindings in 17 years! (Yes, the reason Robert went to college in New England was to ski, but since he quickly learned that skiing cost money and required planning, no skiing was actually done while he was in college.)
Click to see a few more photos from the day (the weather was great...considering how the weather normally is at Mt. Hood, one could argue that it was spectacular).
